Nippani
is one of 57 Karnataka cities in the Nirmala Nagara - Municipal
eGovernance project. On Aug 15th 2005 each of the 57 cities will get a
comprehensive website as well as the Public Grievance &
Redressal
module. Other important modules to be launched by June 2006 are
Property Tax, Financial Accounting GIS Mapping, Birth & Death
Certification, and Ward Works. Nirmala Nagara project is a partnership
between the Urban
Development Dept, eGovernments Foundation
& Survey of India. These computer based systems
coupled with Govt.
process re-engineering and GIS digital mapping will provide
transparency and accountability and smoother delivery of services to
citizens of Karnataka. Your feedback and inputs are greatly

| City Statistics | Nippani
is the largest urban center in Chikkodi Taluk of Belgaum District. It
is located at a distance of 74 Km from the district headquaters. The
Poona-Bangalore National Highway and Vengurla-Bagalkot State Highway
traverse through the town. It is an important agricultural and
commercial trade center in the district. Nippani and its surrounding
villages are known for growing high quality tobacco, which is used for
manufacturing beedis. |

| Water Supply | Nippani town is associated with Jainism. Tavandi (Stavanidhi), which is 5 Km from Nippani, has four Jain temples. The huge idol of Brahamadev is very miraculous. Ther e is a
temple
dedicated to devi padmavati between the main road and the
tirth temple. The third enclosure is dedicated to yaksh Brahamadev.On
the upper storey, a shassterakut and choumukha are there.A fair is
organized here in the month of January on the night of amamavasya (dark
night) of possh. Stroll into the Nippanikar Wada and have a good look at the brilliant wall paintings of the 19th century. |

Budget: The
annual budget of the CMC for the year 2006-07 is Rs. 540.00
lakhs . Out of which 203.55 lakhs is proposed for Public Health and
Service expenses, Rs. 128.75 lakhs towards Development works , Rs.
87.30 lakhs towards General Administrative expences and Rs. 20 lakhs
