Water Supply
 
Brief Description:

         In Nipani City Water Supply System is being maintained by CMC, Nipani. The main  source of water is Vedaganga River at Yamagarni Village at a distance of 7.0km from Nipani City.

Jawaharlal water works Dam at a distance of 2.5km from Nipani town with  a storage   capacity of 0.07TMC across Shirguppi Nala.

During rainy season the Dam is being filled by this Shirguppi Nala and during off season no yield will be their in Shirguppi Nala  and Vedaganga River also.

Average daily yield from these sources in the past One week:

There is sufficient of water upto 35ft in Jawaharlal water works Dam. Due to occasional rainfall in the catchment area of the dam the requirement of Nipani Town in the  last One    week is fulfilled by the JWW Dam, at a rate of 12lakhs Gallons per day. Jackwel at    Vedaganga River is operated in the past One week.

        2.    Athani mala tanks at  Shirguppi GLSR           -    0.85    lakhs Gallans

        3.    Shivaji Nagar GLSR                                        -    1.20    lakhs Gallans          

        4.    Biroba Temple OHT                                         -    1.00    lakhs Gallans

      5.    Fire Station  OHT                                            -    0.50    lakhs Gallans

 The  Existing Borewells in Nippani City:  

        1.    10HP - 3Phase Submersible Motor Pumps                           -        41Nos

      2.    Open well(Private) operated & maintained by CMC 

                5HP -3Phase Monoblock Motor Pumps                               -        2Nos  

       3.    Shirguppi Open well 20HP - 3Phase Monoblock

       4.    Ambalzari Open well 5HP - 3Phase Monoblock

 Therefore, average daily per capita supply in the past One week:

        Average daily per capita supply is 90 LPCD in past One week.

        No announcement is made from CMC Nipani.

Brief messages on how to conserve water:

        After closing of monsoon till the Vedaganga River flows in the River the water is being lifted from River to JWW Dam, & being distributed to Nipani Town & the Dam water level is maintained upto FSL. Soon after dried up Vedaganga River the stored water in JWW Dam is being supplied to Nippani Town. 

Brief discription of Rain Water harvesting in the ULB: 

        The  Rain water harvesting system is being insisted during issue of                        building    permission     to each plot owners. The occuparcy certificate will be issued after        verification of         this    system.

            Drinking water is being supplied once in every 3 days.Satisfactory Bacterial test of drinking  water sample is being obtained at District Vaccine Institute Belgaum. 0.2 PPM of Residual Chlorine is maintained at consumer point.

                  Borewell water for domestic use and not for drinking purpose is supplied during off periods of regular supply.
